John Carpenter, a Royal College of Art graduate, has exhibited paintings at several London galleries and prominent venues including BAFTA and The Royal Academy of Arts. In the last ten years John has produced many bespoke paintings for high end residential interior design projects in the U.K. and internationally, including a recently commissioned painting for a private yacht. In 2025 John was awarded ‘Best bespoke art studio’ by Lux Life Magazine. 

Born and raised in Sheffield, John’s formative years were spent surrounded by his family’s paintings and sculptures. During his school years he was fortunate enough to spend his holidays travelling, immersed in the art galleries of Europe. In the mid 1990’s having completed his studies, he worked as an Art Director on many film & television productions including projects for MTV and multiple television commercials. Later that decade an opportunity lead him to interior design, utilising his skills as an illustrator. To the present day he continues to work as an artist, Illustrator and Interior designer, having established his own company in 2009.

Primarily preoccupied with abstract geometry and the harmony of colour, John develops his own form of contemporary abstract expressionism from his central London studio. His influences are numerous, including the European abstract artists of the early 20th century, most notably Bauhaus, Cubism and Abstract expressionism. As an abstract artist his paintings explore the balance of geometry and the juxtaposition of colour. Many of his paintings are bespoke commissions and are designed to complement the interior colour palette.
